Hensoldt Unveils GMJ9500 Man-Portable Jammer at IDEX to Combat RCIED Threats

At the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in the United Arab Emirates, Hensoldt has unveiled its innovative GMJ9500 man-portable jammer engineered specifically to counter radio-controlled improvised explosive devices (RCIEDs). This advanced jamming system represents a significant advancement in security technology aimed at enhancing the safety of military and security personnel operating in high-risk environments.

The GMJ9500 series stands out due to its lightweight and modular design, making it an ideal solution for infantry units on patrol. By improving safety protocols during de-mining operations and countering improvised explosive devices, this equipment plays a crucial role in safeguarding explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician teams who are frequently exposed to RCIED threats.

One of the key features of the GMJ9500 is its cutting-edge jamming technology, which allows for easy transport and quick deployment under varying conditions. The system’s modularity offers operators the flexibility to customize jammers according to specific mission requirements, ensuring it can adapt to a wide range of operational scenarios. Not only does the GMJ9500 disrupt frequencies used by drone controllers, but it also leverages software-defined technology, allowing for the incorporation of new jamming waveforms that keep pace with evolving threat landscapes.

The integration of Hensoldt’s GMJ Mission Software provides operators with precise programming capabilities to select attack frequencies and define blocked bands. This software also ensures seamless communication among team members, crucial in high-stakes environments. Through the automated calculation of jamming waveforms and generation of mission files, the GMJ9500 guarantees swift and efficient deployment, further enhancing operational readiness.

Hensoldt, a prominent player in defense and civil markets, offers a diverse array of systems and services spanning electronic warfare, spectrum monitoring, optronics, radar, and data links. The company recently secured a contract with the German military to enhance the sensor capabilities of 90 Fennek armored reconnaissance vehicles, highlighting its commitment to advancing defense technology. Furthermore, in September 2024, Hensoldt introduced its AI-powered ARGOS-15 surveillance and imaging systems, designed to optimize target detection, classification, and tracking for military applications.

The debut of the GMJ9500 at IDEX reinforces Hensoldt’s dedication to providing state-of-the-art solutions for military and security forces, bolstering the safety of personnel engaged in increasingly complex and dangerous operations.
