Here’s a practical and effective format to prepare Current Affairs notes in a separate notebook for SSB, NDA, CDS, or any competitive exam:
1. Divide the Notebook into Sections
- National News
- International News
- Defence & Security
- Economy & Banking
- Science & Technology
- Environment
- Sports
- Awards & Appointments
- Miscellaneous/Important Days
2. Format for Each Current Affair Topic
A. Heading
- Write the topic/event name clearly.
(Example: “Chandrayaan-3 Soft Landing on Moon – 23 August 2023”)
B. Background (2–3 lines)
- Why is this in news?
- Short context or previous development.
(Example: “India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission aimed at soft landing near the Moon’s South Pole. It was launched on 14 July 2023 by ISRO.”)
C. Key Facts / Main Points (Bullet Format)
- Date of the event
- Key figures/numbers (budget, data, rank, etc.)
- Important names involved (organization, country, personalities)
- Significance of the event
(Example: - First country to land near South Pole of the Moon
- Launched by LVM3 rocket from Sriharikota
- Rover named ‘Pragyan’ deployed
)*
D. Significance / Impact
- National impact (on India’s image, economy, science, etc.)
- International impact (global relations, treaties, etc.)
(Example: “Enhances India’s space diplomacy; boosts confidence in indigenous technology; strengthens global scientific collaborations.”)
E. Opinion / Possible Questions (SSB Focus)
- What’s your view on this? (Write 2–3 lines opinion)
- Possible GD/Interview question:
- “What does Chandrayaan-3 signify for India’s future in space exploration?”
F. Diagram / Map (if relevant)
- Draw a small diagram, flowchart, or map (e.g., Moon landing site, India’s G20 presidency logo).
3. Tips While Preparing
- Use one page per topic (easy to revise).
- Highlight dates, figures, and keywords using colored pens.
- Update weekly (don’t wait for monthly compilations).
- For SSB, always add “My View” to develop opinion-based speaking.
