The 10th edition of the India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI commenced on December 3, 2025, at the Special Forces Training School, underscoring the deepening defense collaboration between the two countries.
Spanning two weeks, this joint training initiative aims to bolster interoperability between the Indian Army’s Special Forces and the Indonesian Special Operations units. The focus of the exercise is primarily on sharing best practices in mission planning and the execution of counter-terrorism operations, particularly in semi-mountainous environments.
Participants will engage in a variety of key training activities, including heliborne operations, combat shooting drills, and the application of drones along with counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) tactics. Additionally, the exercise will involve coordinated tactical maneuvers tailored for demanding operational scenarios. These elements are designed to sharpen combat proficiency, enhance coordination between the forces, and foster a mutual understanding of each nation’s operational doctrines.
GARUDA SHAKTI serves as a critical platform for reinforcing military ties and further solidifying the strategic partnership between India and Indonesia. The ongoing collaboration not only enhances the skills of both forces but also paves the way for future joint initiatives and counter-terrorism operations, marking a significant milestone in their defense relations.
