Dear Aspirants, Every year, various International Reports and Indexes are released to differentiate the countries on the basis of their military spending, ease of doing business, health, education, women empowerment, trade, and business etc. In this article, we have published the reports of some famous international institutions like the SIPRI, Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), Transparency International, World Bank, IMF, and the World Economic Forum.

Here is the updated list and we have included all the indexes so far released by different organizations of India’s Rank In Various Indexes 2020

Largest Military Spender Country in The World 2020 3 SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute), Sweden Total global military expenditure rose to $1917 billion in 2019, according to new data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The total for 2019 represents an increase of 3.6 per cent from 2018 and the largest annual growth in spending since 2010. The five largest spenders in 2019, which accounted for 62 per cent of expenditure, were the United States, China, India, Russia and Saudi Arabia. This is the first time that two Asian states have featured among the top three military spenders. USA
Global Climate Risk Index 2020 5 Germanwatch, Germany The Global Climate Risk Index (CRI) developed by Germanwatch analyses quantified impacts of extreme weather events10 – both in terms of the fatalities as well as the economic losses that occurred. The index is based on data from the Munich ReNatCatSERVICE11, which is considered worldwide as one of the most reliable and complete databases on this matter. Japan
Global Terrorism Index 2020 8 Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), Sydney, Australia It was developed by IT entrepreneur and IEP’s founder Steve Killelea. The index provides a comprehensive summary of the key global trends and patterns in terrorism since 2000. It is an attempt to systematically rank the nations of the world according to terrorist activity. The index combines a number of factors associated with terrorist attacks to build an explicit picture of the impact of terrorism, illustrating trends, and providing a data series for analysis by researchers and policymakers. It produces a composite score in order to provide an ordinal ranking of countries on the impact of terrorism. Afghanistan
Climate Change Performance Index 2020 9 Germanwatch, CAN International, NewClimate Institute The CCPI analyzes and compares climate protection across 57 countries (plus EU as a whole) with the highest emissions. The index aims to enhance transparency in international climate politics and enable comparison of mitigation efforts and progress made by individual countries. Sweden
Global Happiness Survey 2020 13 Ipsos, France Ipsos Group S.A. is a multinational market research and consulting firm with headquarters in Paris, France. The company was founded in 1975 by Didier Truchot, Chairman and CEO, and has been publicly traded on the Paris Stock Exchange since July 1, 1999. Since 1990, the Group has created or acquired numerous companies. With at least 3 in 5 Indians (66%) saying, they are happy. Global citizens too are similarly placed, with 3 in 5 (63%) saying, they are happy. China
Startup Ecosystem Ranking Report 2020 23 Startup Blink, Germany StartupBlink, a global startup and innovation research centre, has launched the Startup Ecosystem Rankings Report 2020. The 2020 version ranks 1,000 cities and 100 countries worldwide, tracking both momentum and trends within the startup ecosystem from 2017 onwards. USA
International Intellectual Property Index 2020 40 US Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center The US, the UK, France, Germany and Sweden are the top five economies on the IP Index in 2020. US Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations. The 2020 U.S. Chamber International IP Index titled ‘Art of the Possible’ creates a template for economies that aspire to become the 21st century, knowledge-based economies through more effective IP protection. World Competitive Index 2020 43 Institute for Management Development, Switzerland The Global Competitiveness Report was originally co-published by the IMD World Competitiveness Center and the World Economic Forum (WEF) under the title of “World Competitiveness Report.” Subsequently, from this collaboration, two publications evolved. In 1996, the name of the report published by the IMD World Competitiveness Center was officially changed to World Competitiveness Yearbook after the co-publication with the WEF ended. Both IMD and WEF began to publish their own World Economy Rankings and eventually, the WEF’s publication will become the global competitiveness report. Singapore
World Digital competitiveness Ranking 2020 44 Institute for Management Development, Switzerland There are, however, fundamental distinctions between the IMD World Competitiveness Center’s World Competitiveness Yearbook and the WEF’s Global Competitiveness Report. First, 338 criteria are comprised in the World Competitiveness Yearbook compared to less than 120 in the Global Competitiveness Report. Second, the World Competitiveness Yearbook focuses more on hard statistics (66%) from international, national and regional organizations while incorporating an executive survey component (34% of the data). Conversely, the Global Competitiveness Report puts more emphasis on survey data (70%). USA
Inclusive Internet Index 2020 46 Commissioned by Facebook and conducted by the Economist Group The Inclusive Internet Index, commissioned by Facebook and conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit, seeks to measure the extent to which the Internet is not only accessible and affordable, but also relevant to all, allowing usage that enables positive social and economic outcomes at the individual and group level. Now in its fourth year, the index assesses the performance of 100 countries in four categories of inclusion: Accessibility, Affordability, Relevance and Readiness. Each category incorporates key indicators of Internet inclusion, including quantitative measures such as network coverage and pricing, and qualitative measures such as the presence of e-inclusion policies and the availability of local-language content. Global Innovation Index 2020 48 World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva, Switzerland; INSEAD Business School, France; and Cornell University, New York, US It provides detailed metrics about the innovation performance of 131 countries and economies around the world. Its 80 indicators explore a broad vision of innovation, including political environment, education, infrastructure and business sophistication. It is published annually by Cornell University, INSEAD and the WIPO. 2020 Theme: Who will Finance Innovation? Switzerland, Sweden, the USA, the UK and Netherlands are the top five countries. Democracy Index 2020 53 Economist Intelligence Unit, London, UK Almost 70% of countries covered by The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Democracy Index recorded a decline in their overall score, as country after country locked down to protect lives from a novel coronavirus. The global average score fell to its lowest level since the index began in 2006. Norway
World Talent Index 2020 72 INSEAD Business School, France Global Talent Competitive Index (GTCI) 2020 has been released at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on January 22, 2020. INSEAD Business School released the GTCI report with the help of Google and Adecco Group. This year India climbed eight ranks and secured the 72nd rank in the index. Switzerland
Ease of Doing Business 63 World Bank, Washington DC, United States Ease of doing business is an index published by the World Bank. It is an aggregate figure that includes different parameters which define the ease of doing business in a country. It is computed by aggregating the distance to frontier scores of different economies. New Zealand
Global Competitiveness Index 2019 72 World Economic Forum, Cologny, Switzerland The Global Competitiveness Index is released by the World Economic Forum (WEF). It was launched in 1979.It ranks the competitiveness landscape of 141 economies through 103 indicators organised into 12 pillars. Switzerland
Energy Transition Index 2020 74 World Economic Forum, Cologny, Switzerland The Energy Transition Index (ETI) is a fact-based ranking intended to enable policy-makers and businesses to plot the course for a successful energy transition. The benchmarking of energy systems is carried out annually across countries. Sweden
Social Mobility Index 2020 76 World Economic Forum, Cologny, Switzerland The Global Social Mobility Index is an index prepared by the World Economic Forum in the Global Social Mobility report. The Index measures the intergenerational social mobility in different countries in relation to socioeconomic outcomes. The inaugural ranking ranked 82 countries. Denmark
Sustainability Index 2020 77 United Nations, New York, US Sustainability indexes are instruments to measure the responsibility of a certain company in social and environmental areas. The more they take these aspects into account as they develop their business, the higher the score they will obtain. Sweden
Corruption Perception Index 2020 80 Transparency International, Berlin, Germany The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) is an index published annually by Berlin-based Transparency International since 1995 which ranks countries “by their perceived levels of public sector corruption, as determined by expert assessments and opinion surveys.” The CPI generally defines corruption as “the misuse of public power for private benefit”. Henley Passport Index 2020 84 Henley & Partners, UK and International Air Traffic Association (IATA), Canada The Henley Passport Index is the most rigorous and sophisticated measure of global access. It goes beyond a simple ranking of passports to provide you with an in-depth picture of your travel freedom, including which countries you can access with which type of visa, how your passport has changed over the last 16 years, how your passport compares to other passports, why your passport has the level of access it does, and which additional passports would improve your mobility. The Henley Passport Index is the only passport index that is based on IATA data, enhanced by extensive in-house research, supported by expert commentary, and updated regularly throughout the year, making it the most robust, credible, and reliable index of its kind. International Smart City Index 2020 85 Institute for Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland The Smart City Index ranks cities based on economic and technological data, as well as by their citizens’ perceptions of how “smart” their cities are. The 2020 Smart City Index (SCI) was topped by Singapore, followed by Helsinki and Zurich in the second and the third place respectively. Others in the top 10 list include Auckland (4th), Oslo (5th), Copenhagen (6th), Geneva (7th), Taipei City (8th), Amsterdam (9th) and New York at the 10th place. In the 2020 Smart City Index, Hyderabad was placed at the 85th position (down from 67 in 2019), New Delhi at 86th rank (down from 68 in 2019), Mumbai was at 93rd place (in 2019 it was at 78) and Bengaluru at 95th (79 in 2019). Global Hunger Index 2020 94 Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe The Global Hunger Index (GHI) is a tool that measures and tracks hunger globally as well as by region and by country. The GHI is calculated annually, and its results appear in a report issued in October each year. After declining since 2000, hunger at the global level is classified as moderate, according to the 2020 report. Many individual countries have also achieved reductions in hunger since 2000, but in some countries, hunger persists or has even worsened. Belarus
Economic Freedom Index 2020     105 Heritage Foundation, Washington DC, United States The Index of Economic Freedom is an annual index and ranking created in 1995 by right-wing libertarian think-tank The Heritage Foundation and the editorially right-wing The Wall Street Journal to measure the degree of economic freedom in the world’s nations. Hong Kong
Economic Freedom of the World 2020 105 Fraser Institute, Canada Economic Freedom of the World is an annual survey published by the Canadian think tank Fraser Institute. The survey attempts to measure the degree of economic freedom in the world’s nations. It has been used in peer-reviewed studies some of which have found a range of beneficial effects of more economic freedom. Hong Kong
Global Gender Gap Index 2020 112 World Economic Forum, Cologny, Switzerland The Global Gender Gap Report was first published in 2006 by the World Economic Forum. The 2020 report covers 153 countries. The Global Gender Gap Index is an index designed to measure gender equality. Iceland
Global Childhood Index 2020 115 Save the Children, London, UK The End of Childhood Index is part of the Global Childhood Report released by UK-based Save the Children, a non-profit organisation that works for child rights. The index evaluates countries on eight indicators to determine the wellbeing of children and teenagers (0-19 years): Mortality among children under five years of age, Malnutrition that stunts growth, Lack of education, Child labour, Early marriage, Adolescent Births, Displacement by conflict, Child homicide. A final score out of 1,000 is derived, and countries are ranked accordingly. Singapore
Human Capital Index 2020 116 World Bank, Washington DC, United States The Human Capital Index is a report prepared by the World Bank. The Index measures which countries are best in mobilizing the economic and professional potential of its citizens. The index measures how much capital each country loses through lack of education and health. Singapore
Human Development Index 2020 131 United Nations Development Programme, New York, US The Human Development Index is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development. Norway
World Press Freedom Index 2020 142 Reporters Without Borders, Paris, France This freedom index is published annually since 2002 by Reporters Without Borders (RSF). The World Press Freedom Index is an important advocacy tool based on the principle of emulation between states. In 180 countries, the degree of freedom available to journalists is determined by pooling the responses of experts to a questionnaire that is devised by the RSF. This qualitative analysis is combined with quantitative data on abuses and acts of violence against journalists during the period evaluated. Norway
World Happiness Report 2020 144 Sustainable Development Solutions Network, New York, United States The World Happiness Report is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness that ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be. The World Happiness Report 2020 for the first time ranks cities around the world by their subjective well-being and digs more deeply into how the social, urban and natural environments combine to affect our happiness. Environmental Performance Index 2020 168 Yale University, Connecticut and Columbia University, New York of United States Using 32 performance indicators across 11 issue categories, the EPI ranks 180 countries on environmental health and ecosystem vitality. These indicators provide a gauge at a national scale of how close countries are to established environmental policy targets. The EPI offers a scorecard that highlights leaders and laggards in environmental performance and provides practical guidance for countries that aspire to move toward a sustainable future. Denmark
