Indian Air Force Jawan Dies After Falling From Train in Bihar

In a somber turn of events, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has lost a dedicated young airman, Kunal Kumar, aged 27, who tragically died after falling from a moving train at the Gauchhari railway station in Khagaria district, Bihar. Kunal had recently completed his duties during Operation Sindoor along the Line of Control (LoC) and was on his way home after finally being granted leave.

Hailing from Gauchhari Khataha Nagar Parishad under the Gogri police station limits, Kunal was stationed at the Bagdogra Air Force Station in West Bengal. His journey home began from New Jalpaiguri, the closest railway station to his posting. Traveling on the Guwahati-Jammu Tawi Amarnath Express, which does not officially stop at Gauchhari, Kunal attempted to alight the train as it slowed down while passing Platform No. 1. In a tragic twist, he fell from the train and died on the spot.

Kunal joined the IAF on May 11, just four days after his wedding on May 7. His leave was initially canceled due to the urgent military operations that required his service. After Operation Sindoor concluded and tensions were alleviated, he was finally granted leave and eagerly set out to reunite with his wife and family, carrying dreams of a joyful homecoming. However, fate intervened, leading to the tragic incident that deprived him of that reunion.

Dhananjay Kumar, in charge of the Khagaria GRP station, confirmed the details surrounding this heartbreaking event. He stated that an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway, and the body has been sent for postmortem examination. Officer Kumar emphasized that since Gauchhari is not a scheduled stop for the Amarnath Express, Kunal’s attempt to disembark while the train slowed created a dangerous situation.

The news of Kunal’s untimely death has left his family in profound grief. Ramvilas Sah, Kunal’s father, expressed his sorrow, stating that he had great dreams for his only son, who took pride in serving the nation. The devastating news reportedly caused Kunal’s wife, Kavita, to faint upon hearing of the tragedy.

This loss resonates deeply within Kunal’s community, where he was awaited with pride and anticipation. The incident highlights the unforeseen dangers that can occur not just in active duty but during the seemingly ordinary moments of returning home after service. The nation mourns the passing of Kunal Kumar, a young airman whose dedication and commitment will be remembered fondly.
