  1. NDA 1 2016 and NDA 2 2016: Boys who are or have passed 10+2 can join the Indian Air Force, Flying Branch through National Defence Academy Exam, which is conducted twice every year by UPSC. It is a 900 marks written exam conducted for the tri-service feeder academy NDA. If you clear the written exam you have to appear for SSB interview, which is a five day process. The notification for NDA exam is released in December and June. You are advised to check your eligibility criteria.
  2. AFCAT 1 2016 and AFCAT 2 2016: Air Force Common Admission Test or AFCAT is by far the biggest exam conducted for entry into the IAF. This test allows entries for a good number of vacancies in all the three branches of the Airforce which are Flying, Technical and Ground Duties. Candidates have to appear for a written test which is followed by (AFSB)SSB for the successful candidates of the written test. The written test is same for all the candidates irrespective of the Branch Applied i.e. Flying, Technical or Ground Duties. The Technical Branch candidates have to appear for Engineering Knowledge Test also. Check your eligibility criteria with respect to the branch. The notification is released in December and June and exam is conducted in February and August.
  1. CDS 1 2016 and CDS 2 2016 Exam: Combined Defence Services exam is a UPSC exam conducted twice a year for enrolling eligible candidates into Army, Navy and Airforce. A written exam is followed by SSB interview, medical for the eligible candidates. For Airforce the age limit is 19-23 years.  The notification for CDSE will be released in July and November. For air force only men can apply for permanent commission in flying branch.
  2. UES Entry: Male candidates studying in the prefinal year of their Engineering Degree course can apply. UES grants a Permanent Commission in the Technical course of IAF. Shortlisting is done in the campus on the basis of an interview, on getting selected candidates are called for (AFSB) SSB. Notification released in June and December.
  3. NCC Special Entry: As an Air Wing Senior Division ’C’ Certificate holder of the National Cadet Corps, you can apply to the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force. Men can join the Air Force through this mode of entry and will be given a Permanent Commission. Shortlisting of applications followed by (AFSB) SSB. NCC Cadets are to apply through respective NCC Air Squadrons/DG NCC.
  4. Fast Track Selection 2016 : Indian air force conducts a super fast selection with the name of FTS which stands for fast track selection. Indian air force conducts FTS every year for meteorological, technical, GDOC and flying branch.
