Indian Army GOC Reviews Security Situation in Rajouri Amid Ongoing Counter-Terrorism Operations

Lieutenant General P K Mishra, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, along with his counterpart from the Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo), visited the Headquarters of Romeo Force in Rajouri on Wednesday to evaluate the current security dynamics in the region. This visit is part of the Indian Army’s persistent endeavor to ensure stability in Jammu and Kashmir while conducting counter-terrorism operations.

During this on-site assessment, the GOC focused on operational readiness and praised the troops for their professionalism in navigating the demanding circumstances prevalent in the Rajouri sector. This area falls under the jurisdiction of the White Knight Corps, which has been crucial in maintaining order. The XVI Corps, based in Nagrota, oversees the Romeo Force, active in the Rajouri and Poonch districts as part of Operation Rakshak. This operation, a long-standing mission initiated in 1990, is dedicated to counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism efforts.

A photograph released by the White Knight Corps on social media platform X captured the GOC alongside other military members in front of the “Gate of Salutation” at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. This memorial, inaugurated in 2019, pays tribute to Indian soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and has become a significant site for military honors, superseding the Amar Jawan Jyoti as the main venue for such commemorations.

In a statement shared on social media, the White Knight Corps expressed the GOC’s gratitude for the invaluable contributions of veterans, emphasizing their role in bolstering the ongoing counter-terrorism initiatives. A second image in the post depicted military personnel mingling with civilians, likely veterans, showcasing the Corps’ efforts to connect with local communities and former soldiers.

The White Knight Corps remains instrumental in ensuring security in Jammu and Kashmir, collaborating closely with various security forces under Operation Rakshak to uphold peace and stability. The recent visit by the GOC to Rajouri reaffirms the Army’s dedication to tackling security challenges while promoting cooperation with veterans and local partners.
