In a significant operational review, senior officials from the Indian Army conducted a thorough assessment of the state of preparedness along the Line of Control (LoC) by visiting key forward and hinterland bases in the Naushera sector and the Bhaderwah region. The review was spearheaded by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, who was accompanied by the GOC of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and the GOC of the Ace of Spades Division.
During the visit, the military leaders inspected forward posts in Naushera and engaged directly with troops stationed in Bhaderwah. Their discussions focused on the current security landscape in the region, which has been marked by various challenges. Additionally, the group assessed the Corps Battle School, a critical training facility where soldiers receive instruction in advanced counterterrorism tactics under rigorous conditions. The GOC commended the troops for their professionalism, discipline, and high morale, underscoring the importance of operational readiness for ensuring regional peace and security.
This operational assessment is contextualized by a series of recent successful missions in the area, which resulted in substantial recoveries of arms, narcotics, and explosives. Among the confiscated items were firearms, illegal substances, and a 2-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED). These seizures highlight the persistent threat of cross-border infiltration and smuggling that the Indian Army faces.
The Naushera sector has traditionally been a crucial and sensitive area along the LoC, often experiencing cross-border firing and infiltration attempts. The sector gained notable attention in 2018 when Indian forces neutralized a Pakistani intruder, an incident that reflects the ongoing need for constant vigilance and robust counter-infiltration strategies.
In addition to combat operations, the Indian Army has a history of engaging with local communities through various civic outreach initiatives. A prominent example is the artificial limb fitment camp organized by the Ace of Spades Division in 2007, demonstrating the army’s commitment to the welfare of the local populace.
The review reiterates the Indian Army’s dual focus on national security and regional development, ensuring that its forces maintain a state of alertness and preparedness in response to the shifting security dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir.
