In a significant move towards innovation and self-reliance, the Indian Army showcased advancements in battlefield technologies during a recent event led by Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command. This event took place within the framework of Exercise Akhand Prahar, a large-scale field exercise associated with the ongoing Tri-Services Exercise Trishul.
The exercise is a crucial element of the Indian Army’s mission to incorporate indigenous solutions into its operational strategies and tactical applications. During his visit, Lt Gen Seth witnessed a range of locally developed technologies, including drones, counter-drone systems, and advanced force protection technologies. These innovations have emerged from collaboration between local innovation cells, defence startups, and field formations, focusing on improving situational awareness, tactical mobility, and troop safety in contemporary combat scenarios.
Lt Gen Seth praised the Battle Axe Division for its proactive stance, emphasizing the effective collaboration between field units and defence innovators. He recognized the high level of operational readiness, adaptability, and commitment displayed by the troops in their pursuit of self-reliance in critical warfighting technologies.
Exercise Akhand Prahar serves not only to validate multi-domain warfare concepts but also to test how well indigenously produced systems can be integrated into the army’s operations under realistic conditions. Lt Gen Seth’s review further established Southern Command as a leader in promoting the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, highlighting its commitment to innovation and combat preparedness. This reinforces the Indian Army’s transition toward becoming a technologically advanced and self-sufficient military force.
