The Panther Division of the Indian Army’s Vajra Corps recently organized an educational and training tour in Amritsar for cadets and students from the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun and Rashtriya Military School (RMS) Chail in Himachal Pradesh. This event aimed to inspire young minds and nurture the next generation of military leaders through a firsthand experience of military life, leadership qualities, and a sense of patriotism.
During their visit, cadets had the unique opportunity to engage directly with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Panther Division. The students were introduced to next-generation weapons and advanced military equipment, heightening their enthusiasm and encouraging many to contemplate a future career in the Indian Army. This initiative is part of the Army’s broader mission to connect with youth and instill essential values such as discipline, service, and national pride.
The day-long exploration extended beyond military-related activities. The cadets visited several prominent landmarks in Amritsar, including the Attari border, Jallianwala Bagh, the Golden Temple, and Gobindgarh Fort. These visits enriched their understanding of India’s historical, cultural, and patriotic narratives, and helped them establish a connection with the nation’s rich heritage and the sacrifices made for its freedom. At Jallianwala Bagh, which stands as a solemn reminder of the 1919 massacre, the cadets paid homage to the martyrs. Their serene visit to the Golden Temple also offered a moment of spiritual reflection, adding depth to their learning experience.
Established in 1964 and involved in crucial operations such as Operation Riddle in 1965, the Panther Division has a distinguished history of defending India’s borders. Beyond its military responsibilities, the division has actively participated in humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts while fostering national integration. This recent event further underscored its dedication to developing youth into responsible and patriotic citizens.
The tour is indicative of the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to engage with young individuals, with similar initiatives recently undertaken for RIMC cadets in Jammu, organized by the Rising Star Corps. Through such opportunities, the Army aims to lay a robust foundation for the future of the nation’s defense forces while inspiring today’s youth to become the leaders of tomorrow.
