Sapta Shakti Command Wins Top Honours for Clean, Green & Sustainable Stations 2025

In a significant recognition of its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, the Indian Army’s Sapta Shakti Command has achieved the prestigious accolade in the Best Clean, Green & Sustainable Station Awards 2025. The awards spotlight the exemplary efforts of the stations at Bathinda, Sri Ganganagar, and Hisar, which have set a benchmark in maintaining cleanliness, implementing eco-friendly initiatives, and fostering community-driven sustainability efforts.

The awards were conferred by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), who highlighted the outstanding performance of the formations and stations in several critical areas including waste management, energy conservation, and afforestation. The recognition underscores the Army’s effort to create and uphold ecologically sustainable environments within military installations.

Each of the awarded stations demonstrated innovations in various initiatives. Their strategies encompassed water conservation practices, the utilization of renewable energy sources, and active community engagement aimed at maintaining hygiene and enriching green spaces throughout the cantonment areas. These initiatives not only enhance the living conditions for military personnel but also serve as a model for other institutions and communities.

The overarching theme for the initiative, “Shining with Swachhata & Sustainability,” was designed to motivate all Army formations to embrace sustainable living practices and reduce their environmental footprints. This approach emphasizes the collective responsibility of individuals and organizations in protecting and preserving natural resources for future generations.

The recognition awarded to the Sapta Shakti Command reiterates the Indian Army’s deep-rooted values of discipline and accountability. This ethos extends beyond its primary role in national defense, reflecting an active commitment to environmental stewardship and the protection of the ecological landscape. The achievements of the Sapta Shakti Command serve as a strong encouragement for others to engage in similar environmental preservation activities.
