The Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala is gearing up to host the renowned Admiral’s Cup 2025, an esteemed international naval sailing championship, from December 8 to December 13. This event, now in its 14th edition, is anticipated to draw participants from 35 countries, underscoring its increasing prominence and reputation among maritime nations worldwide.
Established in 2010, the Admiral’s Cup aims to promote camaraderie and professional bonding among officer trainees from allied foreign navies, fostering deeper maritime cooperation. Over the years, the championship has gained status as a leading global competition, attracting exemplary sailing talents from naval academies across continents.
The competition will follow the Match Racing format, utilizing ILCA–6 class sailboats, which are recognized internationally for their requirement of tactical strategy, physical stamina, and superb seamanship. This year’s event will showcase a diverse range of participants hailing from Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, turning the championship into a vibrant display of international maritime culture and collaborative teamwork.
With the Indian Naval Academy’s state-of-the-art sailing facilities and the ideal maritime conditions along the Ezhimala coast, the venue promises to provide a world-class setting for the competition. In addition to the races, the visiting teams will partake in cultural exchanges and outreach activities, offering them an intimate experience of India’s naval traditions and the Academy’s educational environment.
The official opening of the championship is set for December 9, featuring an inauguration ceremony followed by four days of intense racing that will challenge the competitors with varying wind and sea conditions. The event will culminate on December 13 with a Closing Ceremony that will recognize and celebrate the top-performing crews and individual sailors who have excelled throughout the competition.
