Lieutenant General Praveen Bakshi, VSM, Commandant of the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow, has officially inaugurated the Joint EMI/EMC Course Serial 41. This event took place on January 7, 2026, and marks the initiation of an essential training program focusing on Electromagnetic Interference and Electromagnetic Compatibility, critical for modern military operations.

The course has attracted 16 officers from varied branches including the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and the Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA). This diversity reflects a robust tri-service and inter-agency effort aimed at enhancing technical proficiency and interoperability among India’s defense forces.

Set to unfold in two distinct phases, the first part of the course will take place over two weeks at MCTE, followed by a three-week module at the Army Centre for Electromagnetics. The meticulously crafted curriculum is designed to furnish participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, enabling them to effectively tackle EMI/EMC challenges encountered by contemporary military systems.

During his address, Lt Gen Bakshi emphasized the escalating significance of managing the electromagnetic spectrum in both current and future combat scenarios. He pointed out that advanced, technology-driven platforms are increasingly operational in congested and contested environments, making it imperative to adeptly manage EMI/EMC issues. He stressed that the reliability, interoperability, and overall operational effectiveness of sophisticated military equipment hinges on the successful navigation of these challenges.

The overarching objective of the Joint EMI/EMC Course is to empower officers with the necessary expertise to analyze, mitigate, and effectively manage EMI/EMC-related issues across diverse services and organizations. This initiative seeks to bolster jointness, foster technical synergy, and enhance mission readiness within the Indian Armed Forces, thereby contributing to a more cohesive and prepared military establishment.
