The Junior Leaders Academy (JLA) in Bareilly has successfully wrapped up its Potential Subedar Major Course for Junior Leaders on December 9, 2025. This four-week intensive program attracted the participation of Subedar Majors and potential Subedar Majors from diverse arms of the Indian Armed Forces, including the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Special Frontier Force (SFF), and the Assam Rifles. The culmination of this course highlights the institution’s crucial role in bolstering junior leadership across various services.
Throughout the course, the focus was on enhancing key competencies essential for effective leadership. Participants engaged in training aimed at improving discipline management, administrative skills, and troop welfare—core responsibilities that Subedar Majors shoulder as custodians of unit ethos and morale.
During the valedictory ceremony, the Commandant of JLA underscored the significance of Subedar Majors in fostering organisational cohesion and guiding soldiers through both professional and personal challenges. Their role is instrumental in maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of military operations.
In recognition of outstanding achievements, Ris Maj Kewal Singh of the 10 Punjab Battalion NCC was named the Overall Best Student of the course. His exemplary performance, dedication, and demonstrated leadership qualities throughout the training earned him this prestigious distinction.
The successful completion of this training capsule reaffirms JLA Bareilly’s commitment to developing future-ready leaders, aligned with the highest standards of professionalism in the Armed Forces. The Academy continues to serve as a vital training ground for nurturing the next generation of military leaders.
