The Medium Machine Gun (MMG) and Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL) Course for Junior Leaders concluded today at The Infantry School in Mhow. This intensive training module was designed to enhance the combat effectiveness of young infantry leaders, showcasing the institution’s dedication to building skilled military personnel.
Participants in the course included Indian Army personnel as well as seven Junior Leaders from Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs) such as Bhutan, Botswana, and the Maldives. This diverse representation highlights India’s burgeoning role in defense cooperation and capacity-building among allied nations.
Throughout the training period, participants engaged in demanding instruction focused on the tactical and technical use of company support weapon systems. The curriculum emphasized live-fire drills for accuracy, battlefield coordination, and effective weapon deployment across various operational scenarios. This approach was aimed at improving overall battlefield proficiency, enhancing leadership skills, and boosting the confidence of the trainees.
Recognition for exceptional performance was awarded at the conclusion of the course. Naik Chandan Singh Koranga of the 9 KUMAON battalion was named the Best Student, while Naik Manoj Kumar Poonia from the 28 RAJPUT battalion earned the Second Best Student title. Additionally, Staff Sergeant Vikram Ali from the Maldives received the accolade for Best Foreign Student, marking a significant achievement amidst the high standards set by international participants.
The successful completion of this training module reinforces the Infantry School’s commitment to developing technically proficient and tactically adept leaders from both India and partner nations. These leaders are expected to excel in modern combat environments, further strengthening military ties and collaborative efforts in regional security.
