After going missing on May 29, 1984 while stationed at Glacier owing to an avalanche, the mortal remains of LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar were found by a patrol of the Indian Army. He had been missing since then.

LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar was identified with the assistance of an identifying disc with his Army number that was entangled together with the mortal remains; additional data were collected from official Army records. LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar was a soldier in the Indian Army.
