Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma Reviews RIMC's Success in NDA and NA Entrance Exams

Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), recently conducted a review of infrastructure projects and development initiatives at The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) in Dehradun. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by the RIMC Commandant, Colonel Rahul Agarwal, who took the opportunity to highlight the institution’s ongoing commitment to excellence in both academic and military preparatory results. This commitment is exemplified by the college’s impressive outcomes in the Union Public Service Commission’s National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy (NA) entrance exams.

RIMC has solidified its position as a leading contributor to the Indian Armed Forces by achieving a remarkable milestone in the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) for 2025. A noteworthy total of 28 cadets from RIMC qualified for the UPSC-organized examination, with one cadet notably attaining All India Rank 1 and five others earning spots within the top 20, according to the results announced on April 28, 2025.

During his visit, Lt. Gen. Sharma, who boasts over four decades of distinguished military service, including key roles in counter-terrorism and high-altitude operations, commended the RIMC faculty for their unwavering dedication and commitment to maintaining high standards in cadet training. He emphasized that the college plays an essential role in cultivating future military leaders who are aligned with India’s strategic objectives and operational readiness, as discussed in the latest edition of the 2023 Journal of Defence Studies.

The visit involved interactions with faculty and cadets, a thorough inspection of campus facilities, and a reaffirmation of RIMC’s pivotal role in defence education within India. Established in 1922, RIMC continues to foster young aspirants for the Army, Navy, and Air Force, instilling core values of discipline, leadership, and national service. The recent NDA results further reinforce RIMC’s legacy and reputation as one of India’s premier military preparatory institutions, vital for the development of capable and committed future leaders.
