Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Spear Corps, recently undertook a significant visit to an Assam Rifles unit stationed in Tupul, Manipur, as well as to forward posts along the Indo-Myanmar Border in Chandel district. The primary objective of this visit was to assess the operational readiness and the current security landscape in the region.

During his visit, Lt Gen Kalia received a comprehensive briefing on various aspects of the operational environment, including border management strategies and ongoing initiatives aimed at preserving peace and stability. He conducted a thorough evaluation of the troops’ preparedness in strategically vital border areas and took stock of the measures in place to tackle emerging security challenges.

As part of his assessment, the Corps Commander visited several forward locations along the Indo-Myanmar Border. Here, he examined the effectiveness of surveillance systems, border management programs, and operational preparedness strategies implemented by the Assam Rifles.

Engaging with both officers and enlisted personnel, Lt Gen Kalia expressed his appreciation for their dedication, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to their duties. He commended all ranks for their relentless efforts in ensuring security and stability in the region, even amid challenging operational circumstances.

Furthermore, the GOC recognized the critical role played by the Assam Rifles in safeguarding the border, countering security threats, and fostering peace in the Northeast. He urged the troops to maintain their high standards of vigilance, operational readiness, and professionalism.
