Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, the Quarter Master General (QMG) of the Indian Army, visited the Jaipur Military Station on March 7-8, 2025, as part of a two-day engagement with the Sapta Shakti Command. During this visit, he held discussions with Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, the Army Commander of the Sapta Shakti Command, emphasizing significant initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure, land management, and environmental protection across the Indian Army.
The Jaipur Military Station, which operates under the South Western Command, has been recognized for its pioneering efforts in sustainability and eco-friendly military development. One of its remarkable achievements is the Plastic Waste Road Initiative, making it the second military station in India to construct a road utilizing plastic waste. Launched on June 26, 2024, by Major General R S Godara, this 100-meter-long road serves as a testament to the Indian Army’s commitment to green infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
Lt Gen Krishnan learned about the advantages of the plastic waste road, noting its enhanced durability, reduced wear and tear, and minimized water induction compared to traditional road construction methods. These advancements align with the Indian Army’s broader environmental sustainability objectives, showcasing its dedication to fostering eco-conscious military infrastructure.
The discussions during the visit also encompassed plans for further infrastructural improvements at Jaipur Military Station, which plays a critical role in strategic operations, administration, training, and the welfare of military personnel and their families. The station’s significance is underscored by its location near the Western Indo-Pak border, where it contributes to India’s operational readiness for both combat and support functions.
