In a significant gesture reflecting the Indian Army’s dedication to youth engagement and nation-building, Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, visited the 19 Karnataka Battalion NCC in Madikeri on November 5, 2025. This visit served as a powerful reminder of the Army’s commitment to instilling values of leadership, discipline, and patriotism in young cadets.
During his visit, Lt Gen Seth received an in-depth briefing regarding the battalion’s distinguished history, its organizational structure, and pivotal contributions since its founding in 1954. The briefing highlighted the battalion’s sustained excellence in training cadets across educational institutions in Karnataka, as well as its proactive involvement in adventure sports, social awareness initiatives, and participation in national-level events.
Commending the battalion, Lt Gen Seth recognized its unwavering dedication to the core mission of the National Cadet Corps: to develop young men and women into responsible citizens and future leaders of the Armed Forces and the nation. He expressed appreciation for the professionalism and commitment exhibited by the officers and training staff, who work tirelessly to instill core values of discipline, integrity, and service in the cadets.
The General Officer also took the opportunity to engage with a cohort of accomplished NCC cadets, who have represented the battalion at various regional and national events, including the Republic Day Parade, the All India Nau Sainik Camp, and the Thal Sainik Camp. He noted their enthusiasm and motivation to serve the country in numerous capacities, praising their confidence and readiness to take on future challenges.
In his address to the cadets, Lt Gen Seth urged them to embody the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline,” encouraging them to focus their energies on nation-building and social welfare. He underscored the unique platform that the NCC provides for character development and leadership training, urging the cadets to pursue excellence in all areas of their lives.
