Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Sapta Shakti Command and Colonel of the Madras Regiment, recently visited the 21st Battalion of the Madras Regiment. His visit aimed to assess the operational readiness of the battalion and foster interaction between the leadership and the troops.
During his address to the soldiers, affectionately referred to as “Thambis,” Lt Gen Singh commended all personnel for their high levels of professionalism and unwavering commitment to the nation. He recognized their technical and operational capabilities, which span various military domains, highlighting the significance of such skills in today’s complex security environment.
In his motivating discussions with the troops, the Army Commander encouraged them to pursue excellence in their duties, particularly as they navigate evolving operational challenges. He called on every soldier to take pride in the rich history and legacy of the Madras Regiment, one of the Indian Army’s oldest infantry regiments, renowned for its bravery and distinguished service over the years.
Lt Gen Singh placed emphasis on the necessity of upholding the proud ethos, traditions, and fighting spirit inherent to both the regiment and the broader Indian Army.
