Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of the Sapta Shakti Command, visited the Military Hospital in Jaipur today, focusing on the Early Intervention Centre (EIC) that provides vital developmental support to differently-abled children. This visit underscored the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the holistic welfare of its personnel and their families.
During his visit, Lt Gen Singh engaged with medical staff and therapists at the EIC, expressing his appreciation for their dedication and the positive impact they have on the lives of children with developmental challenges. The center specializes in early diagnosis and therapeutic support for children from birth to age six—an age range during which early intervention can greatly enhance cognitive and emotional outcomes, ultimately improving the quality of life for both the children and their families.
In addition to discussing the EIC, Lt Gen Singh commended the comprehensive services offered by the Military Hospital Jaipur. He praised the medical staff for their consistent excellence in caring for soldiers, their dependents, and veterans. The hospital plays a crucial role under the Sapta Shakti Command, delivering essential medical support throughout Rajasthan and neighboring regions.
Since assuming command on July 1, 2024, Lt Gen Singh has emphasized wellness, rehabilitation, and family support initiatives as key aspects of leadership. His examination of the EIC operations is indicative of the Indian Army’s evolving approach to inclusive healthcare and early support systems for families.
The Jaipur EIC is part of a broader network of Early Intervention Centres present in military hospitals across India. A notable counterpart is “Prayas” at the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in Delhi, inaugurated in 2022 to provide similar developmental care and parental counseling services. These centers aim to empower families and significantly improve long-term outcomes for children with special needs.
Lt Gen Singh’s visit reaffirms the Army’s commitment to supporting its personnel beyond the battlefield, focusing on their families’ health, development, and overall well-being. The initiative at Military Hospital Jaipur serves as a model of compassionate and proactive military healthcare.
