Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, recently conducted a visit to Army units in Akhnoor. His visit served as an opportunity to interact with troops and commend them for their exceptional performance in both operational and humanitarian capacities.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma recognized the soldiers’ commendable efforts in response to the recent Jammu floods. Army units played a crucial role in large-scale Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. The troops’ rapid evacuation of civilians, provision of medical assistance, and restoration of essential services garnered significant appreciation from the local communities. This highlighted the Indian Army’s position as a cornerstone of support during times of crisis.
The Army Commander also praised all ranks for their steadfast commitment to maintaining operational readiness while engaged in relief efforts, which often took place under challenging circumstances. Addressing the troops, Lt Gen Sharma stressed the critical nature of sustained vigilance along the Line of Control and in hinterland regions.
