Man Arrested in Punjab for Leaking Military Secrets to ISI During Operation Sindoor

A man from Punjab’s Tarn Taran district has been apprehended for allegedly leaking sensitive military information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The accused, Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, was taken into custody following intensive surveillance prompted by Counter-Intelligence Punjab’s alerts.

Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav, disclosed that Singh had established a long-standing connection with Gopal Singh Chawla, a pro-Khalistani supporter based in Pakistan, over the past five years. This relationship paved the way for Singh to interact with Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs), with whom he is accused of sharing crucial details such as troop movements and strategic military installations. In exchange for this sensitive information, Singh allegedly received monetary compensation via Indian financial channels.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the DGP underscored the gravity of Singh’s actions, describing them as a significant menace to national security. Authorities recovered a mobile phone from Singh that contained critical evidence, including communications with more than 20 suspected ISI operatives and documentation of the intelligence breaches.

The arrest was the result of a collaborative effort by the Tarn Taran Police and counter-intelligence units, which have since initiated extensive financial and technical investigations to unearth the broader network engaged in this espionage activity.

Officials highlighted that this case reflects ongoing attempts by Pakistan to exploit individuals sympathetic to their cause through honeytrap mechanisms and ideological networks, particularly during critical military operations like Operation Sindoor. The developments underscore the persistent threat posed by foreign intelligence agencies seeking to destabilize national security from within.
