Born in Bhawanipur, a modest village in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh, Sapna Rana was always the most ambitious among her siblings. Supported by her parents, Sapna pursued higher education in Solan and later at Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla, where she earned an MBA degree. Sapna’s life took a significant turn when she decided to appear for the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam while preparing for the Civil Services. Her determination paid off when she cleared the Service Selection Board (SSB) and joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai in 2003. A year later, she was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army, embarking on an illustrious military career.
