Supreme Court Allows Withdrawal of Life Support in Harish Rana

Amit Shah Launches ‘Pragati’ and ‘Vikas’ Mascots

Indonesia Social Media Ban for Children Under 16 Announced

  • The Indonesia social media will be ban for children under 16 will begin its implementation from March 28, 2026. Authorities stated that the enforcement will happen gradually as social media companies adjust their systems to comply with the new regulations.
  • Under the new rule platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, Roblox and Bigo Live will not allow accounts created by users younger than sixteen years.

National Mission For Manuscripts

  • Government has launched Gyan Bharatam Mission as a major initiative under the Ministry of Culture. It aims to Survey, Document, Conserve, Digitize, and make accessible Manuscripts located in academic Institutions, Museums, Libraries, and Private collections across India.
    • To support the initiative, the Standing Finance Committee (SFC) has sanctioned Rs.491.66 crore for the period 2025-2031.
    • This Mission has been mandated to establish a nation-wide network of Cluster Centers (CCs) and Independent Centers (ICs) across the country to carry out above mentioned activities and more than 40 CCs and ICs have been onboarded so far in this direction.
    • In addition, 28 States / UTs have also been onboarded so far to act as the Nodal Coordinating Authority for the mission’s implementation within the State / UT concerned.
    • Gyan Bharatam Mission uses a systematic, technology-driven framework to protect India’s manuscript heritage.
    • This framework includes scientific conservation & restoration through preventive and curative methods, high standard digitization of manuscripts, centralized access to digitized data through NDR, data security through LTO-9 tapes and cloud-based backup with disaster recovery systems.

Olympics Transgender Ban 2028

  • International Olympic Committee announced on that the transgender women and DSD (Differences of Sex Development) athletes are no longer to be allowed to compete in female categories at the Olympics.
  • The rile will apply to Los Angeles Olympics for year 2028. The decision is aimed at to ensuring fairness in competition and also introduced mandatory SRY gene screening for athletes who are want to participate in women’s events.
  • The IOC have updated policy and introduces a one-time SRY gene screening to determine the eligibility for female categories.
  • The SRY gene is typically present on the Y chromosome and it plays a key role in male biological development.
  • Athletes will undergo the testing through simple methods such as saliva, cheek swabs or blood samples.
  • The decision comes after several years of the global debate over the participation of transgender and DSD athletes in women sports.
