Mortal Remains of IAF's Leading Aircraftman Saurabh Singh Arrive Home for Final Tributes

The mortal remains of Leading Aircraftman Saurabh Singh from the Indian Air Force were returned to his hometown of Belara Kalan in Bharatpur district on June 16. The somber occasion drew hundreds of villagers and uniformed personnel, all gathering to pay their final respects to the 23-year-old airman, who succumbed to injuries sustained in the line of duty at Kumbhirgram Air Force Station in Assam.

Born in 2002, Saurabh hailed from Belara Kalan and joined the Indian Air Force in 2020, demonstrating commitment and determination during his recruitment process. As a Leading Aircraftman, he was stationed at Kumbhirgram, a strategically vital location for the Indian military.

Just weeks before his tragic passing, Saurabh celebrated a significant personal milestone by marrying on May 5, 2025. Following this joyful occasion, he returned to duty on May 22 after spending precious time with his family.

The sorrowful news of his grave injuries reached his family on June 14, when they learned that he had been admitted to a leading military hospital. Despite extensive medical efforts, Saurabh’s condition deteriorated, leading to his untimely death.

Upon arrival in Belara Kalan, the village was steeped in an atmosphere of mourning mixed with pride for the young soldier who served his nation. Fellow Air Force personnel honored him with a guard of honor, while local residents joined the somber procession to pay tribute to Saurabh’s dedication and sacrifice.

The Indian Air Force and local administration have extended heartfelt condolences to Saurabh’s grieving family. His sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the tenacity and unwavering commitment displayed by armed forces personnel, who stand ready to serve their country in times of peace and conflict alike.
