Defence PSU Munitions Indian Limited (MIL) Defence has signed a contract worth $225 million for supply of artillery ammunition to Saudi Arabia through its partner, Nadrah Company.

Bearing testimony to the growing defence ties between India and Saudi Arabia, Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt is on a visit to Riyadh as head of the Indian delegation for the ongoing World Defence Show (WDS) 2024. The five-day show, which commenced on February 04, 2024, is showcasing the latest advancements in defence technology serving as a vital platform for international collaboration amongst the participating companies. India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ are national programmes that can be mutually beneficial to both sides. Both initiatives prioritise technological advancements, indigenous capabilities and knowledge sharing.
Ministry of Defence reportedly signed a $225 million deal with Nadrah Company for supplying artillery ammo to Saudi Arabia. The event was attended by HE Ahmad Abdulaziz Al- Ohali, Governor of the General Authority of Military Industries, KSA, and Ajay Bhatt, State Defence Minister. This deal is among the biggest Indian Defence export orders and follows a recent series of bilateral military exercises between both countries.
Additionally, Munition India is developing India’s first 155 smart ammunition in collaboration with Indian IIT-M. MIL, is among India’s defence public sector enterprise. The ammunition in development is similar to the US M982 Excalibur, which India also uses in its M777 Ultra Light howitzer.
