Introduction

In today’s NDA & CDS 2 2026 Chemistry live class, the focus was on the fundamental topic of Physical and Chemical Changes, which forms an important part of the General Science syllabus. The session was designed to build a strong conceptual foundation by helping students understand the differences between physical and chemical changes, their characteristics, and their practical applications in daily life. Since questions from this topic are frequently asked in defence examinations, special emphasis was placed on conceptual clarity and exam-oriented learning.

The class began with a detailed discussion on the definition and features of physical changes. Students learned that physical changes involve alterations in the shape, size, or state of a substance without changing its chemical composition. Various examples such as melting of ice, boiling of water, and dissolution of sugar in water were used to explain the concept. The idea of reversibility and the absence of new substance formation were highlighted through simple and relatable examples, enabling students to easily differentiate physical changes from chemical ones.

Subsequently, the concept of chemical changes was introduced. The discussion focused on how chemical changes lead to the formation of one or more new substances with different properties. Important indicators such as change in colour, evolution of gas, formation of precipitate, production of heat or light, and irreversibility were explained in detail. Everyday examples including rusting of iron, burning of fuel, digestion of food, and curd formation were discussed to strengthen conceptual understanding and improve retention.

A comparative approach was adopted to help students distinguish between physical and chemical changes effectively. Key differences were explained through tables, examples, and previous-year examination questions. Students were encouraged to identify the type of change in various real-life situations, which enhanced their analytical and problem-solving abilities. Special attention was given to commonly confused examples that are frequently asked in NDA and CDS examinations.

To make the session more exam-oriented, important multiple-choice questions and expected defence examination questions were discussed. Shortcut techniques and elimination methods were shared to help students solve questions accurately within a limited time. Revision points and memory-based tricks were also provided to ensure quick recall during the examination.

Conclusion

The session successfully established a clear understanding of Physical and Chemical Changes, an essential Chemistry topic for NDA and CDS aspirants. Through conceptual explanations, real-life examples, comparative analysis, and exam-focused practice questions, students developed both theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Continuous revision of these concepts along with regular practice of objective questions will help candidates strengthen their preparation and improve their performance in the NDA & CDS 2 2026 examination.
