The Norwegian Armed Forces have entered into a significant four-year contract worth $4 million with Non-stop dogwear, a distinguished local company recognized for its high-performance equipment tailored for working dogs. This partnership will see the supply of specialized gear designed for the military’s K-9 division, encompassing a range of essential items including harnesses, leashes, booties, cages, veterinary kits, and training equipment.
The initiative will be executed through Non-stop dogwear’s dedicated professional unit, which is committed to providing equipment for police, military, and rescue services. Kristoffer Grøtan Olsen, the company’s founder and chief executive, emphasized the critical nature of the deal, highlighting the reliability of their products. The gear is intended to support military working dogs and their handlers in challenging operational environments that often require resilience and adaptability.
Olsen noted, “Testing our gear in the toughest conditions means we can deliver equipment that handlers and dogs can rely on, whether in military operations or everyday service.” The rigorous testing procedures for each product focus on strength and materials, ensuring they can withstand the demands of strong working dogs in difficult situations.
This contract is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first instance where Non-stop dogwear has independently secured a substantial government tender, signaling the company’s growing influence in Europe’s defense and security sector.
Military working dogs are increasingly recognized for their invaluable contributions to armed forces globally, conducting tasks such as explosive detection, patrols, search-and-rescue missions, and even direct combat support. In recent years, NATO members have shown a commitment to investing in specialized animal units and technology to bolster their operational capacities. For instance, the United Kingdom announced an investment of approximately 3.1 million pounds ($4.07 million) in canine military gear in October 2024.
Founded in 2009, Non-stop dogwear initially gained recognition for outdoor gear for dogs but has since expanded its professional offerings to serve government institutions. Its innovative products are already utilized by search-and-rescue teams throughout Scandinavia, as well as by various police and military units across Europe and Asia.
As the four-year contract is set to commence next month, Olsen expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to support the Norwegian Armed Forces. He also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to developing equipment that benefits dogs worldwide, further solidifying Non-stop dogwear’s role in enhancing the capabilities of working dogs in military and rescue operations.
