Naatu Naatu Wins Best Original Song Award for India
The Telugu song “Naatu Naatu” by MM Keeravaani and Chandrabose from the RRR film won the Academy Award for best original song. Applause (Tell It Like a Woman), Hold My Hand (Top Gun: Maverick), Lift Me Up (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and This Is a Life was also nominated for Best Original Song (Everything Everywhere All at Once). Previously, at the 81st Academy Awards in February 2009, AR Rehman’s Hindi language song Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire received an Academy Award for Best Original Song.
Elephant Whisperers wins the award for Best Documentary Short for India
The Elephant Whisperers won Best Documentary Short Subject at the 95th Academy Awards, directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga. Haulout, The Martha Mitchell Effect, Stranger At The Gate, and How Do You Measure A Year were the other four nominees in the category. The Elephant Whisperers is a story about an orphaned elephant calf named Raghu who is cared for by an indigenous couple, Bomman and Belli, in the Mudumalai National Park. In December 2022, Netflix will release The Elephant Whisperers.
