Officers Training Academy (OTA) Gaya is a premier Pre-Commission Training Academy (PCTA) of the Indian Army, established in the erstwhile location of Army Service Corps (ASC) Centre (North). Gaya Military Station, in the pre-independence days, had a historical distinction of being the Operation Centre of Sir Archibald Wavell, Commander-in-Chief of British India Army who steered the initial operations of the Burma Campaign from here. He later became the penultimate Viceroy of India.

Post-Independence, Gaya Military Station was occupied by 42 Infantry Brigade, which was followed by 7 Mountain Brigade, which managed a Prisoner of War (PoW) Camp during the 1971 war. In 1976, ASC Centre (North) was established at Gaya and continued till July 2011, when OTA Gaya was raised. The government sanction letter for the Academy was issued on 27 April 2011 and the raising was completed in a phased manner by December 2015.

The first batch of training of Technical Entry Scheme (TES) and Special Commission Officers (SCO) entries commenced from 18 July 2011. These entries were previously trained at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The ‘commissioning’ of OTA Gaya was solemnised by hoisting of the OTA Flag by Lieutenant General K Surendra Nath, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, the then GOC-in-C, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) along with Lt Gen Vijai Sharma, PVSM, VSM, the first Commandant. The formal inauguration of the Academy was carried out by Gen VK Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, ADC, the then Chief of Army Staff in November 2011.
