In a tragic turn of events, Rajasthan Police have apprehended two individuals in connection with the abduction and subsequent murder of an Indian Army constable, identified as Vikram Singh. The incident took place in the Jhunjhunu district, where Singh was stationed in Punjab as a member of the 18th Rashtriya Rifles, a unit attached to the Rajputana Rifles regiment.
The distressing episode unfolded on Wednesday night when Singh returned to his ancestral village, Palota, to participate in his cousin’s wedding festivities. Reports indicate that two suspects, known to Singh, confronted him near his cousin’s residence. The suspects forcibly abducted Singh, compelling him into a vehicle before taking him to a secluded area. Tragically, it was here that he was later discovered deceased.
Surajgarh Station House Officer, Hemraj Meena, noted that attempts by local residents to intervene during the abduction were unsuccessful, as they were unable to halt the vehicle. The two individuals currently in custody are also from Singh’s native village, and police are actively questioning them. Despite the ongoing investigation, the motive behind the crime remains unclear.
Approximately two hours following the abduction, Singh’s family received a distressing phone call from an unidentified caller who informed them of his demise and revealed the location of his body. Rushed by the family to a nearby hospital, Singh was unfortunately declared dead upon arrival. At the site where the body was found, no individuals were present, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
In response to this heinous crime, law enforcement has registered a case under Section 102 for murder at the Surajgarh police station. The authorities have initiated a postmortem examination on the body to ascertain the exact cause of death and are reviewing local CCTV footage as part of their investigation. Police are diligently working to reconstruct the timeline of events and uncover the underlying reasons behind this shocking incident.
