Rear Admiral Prashant Handu, NM, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Staff Requirements), conducted a visit to the Naval Armament Depot (NAD) in Bheemunipatnam on 12 March 2026. The primary purpose of this visit was to assess the operational preparedness and logistical readiness of the depot, a critical component of the Indian Navy’s armament support system.
During his time at the depot, Rear Admiral Handu evaluated its capability to deliver armaments efficiently, ensuring that they are available in the right quantity and at the right time to meet the operational demands of the Indian Navy. This assessment is essential for maintaining the fleet’s operational efficacy and readiness.
The visit included a thorough inspection of the depot’s technical facilities, where the Admiral reviewed various processes associated with the storage, maintenance, and supply of naval armaments. He expressed his appreciation for the high standards of readiness and operational efficiency demonstrated by the depot personnel, acknowledging their crucial role in sustaining the Navy’s operational capabilities.
In addition to the inspection, Rear Admiral Handu engaged in discussions with the officers and staff at the depot. Shri P.K. Singh, General Manager of NAD Bheemunipatnam, provided a comprehensive briefing on the depot’s operational commitments, significant achievements, and the ongoing challenges faced in maintaining a seamless supply chain for armaments.
