Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth, VSM, has assumed the role of Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY) in Karwar as of November 24, 2025. This leadership appointment is significant for the Indian Navy, as it enhances the maritime maintenance and operational support framework within the nation.
Commissioned into the Engineering Branch on November 30, 1991, Rear Admiral Seth boasts over three decades of notable service in the Navy. He is an esteemed graduate of institutions such as the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, the Naval War College in Goa, and the National Defence College in New Delhi. His rich academic background is complemented by qualifications from prominent universities, including Jawaharlal Nehru University, Defence Institute of Advanced Technology in Pune, Pune University, and Madras University.
Renowned for his skills as a Marine Engineer, Rear Admiral Seth earned the top position in the Marine Engineering Specialisation Course at INS Shivaji. His extensive sea experience includes significant deployments on frontline vessels like INS Khukri, INS Nishank, and INS Delhi. He also undertook a notable overseas assignment as a technical staff officer with the Mauritius Coast Guard.
Throughout his career, he has held various critical roles that have shaped his professional journey. These include positions such as Maintenance and Support Activity Manager at Naval Dockyard Mumbai, Director General (Capability) and Additional General Manager (Production) at the same dockyard, and Joint Director of Operations (Technical) at the Naval Headquarters. Notably, during his tenure as Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji, the establishment received the prestigious President’s Colour, a testament to its excellence in service and training.
Upon his promotion to Flag Rank, Admiral Seth took on the role of Director at the Directorate of Marine Design and Engineering in Hyderabad and served as Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Eastern Naval Command. His exemplary contributions to the Navy were recognized with the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2025.
In his new position at NSRY Karwar, Rear Admiral Seth is anticipated to enhance the Navy’s repair, refit, and maintenance capabilities, bolstering India’s maritime operations along the western seaboard in response to emerging strategic demands.
