Rear Admiral Srinivas Maddula has assumed the role of Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation & Intelligence) [ACNS (FCI)], marking a significant leadership change within the Indian Navy’s strategic and diplomatic framework. He succeeds his previous position as Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) at the Southern Naval Command.
RAdm Maddula is a highly regarded Flag Officer, bringing a wealth of operational and staff experience to his new role. Throughout his distinguished career, he has commanded several frontline warships, including both a missile vessel and an advanced stealth frigate. His noteworthy staff experience entails leadership roles in pivotal directorates, such as Principal Director of Network Centric Operations and Principal Director of Naval Intelligence. In these capacities, he was instrumental in enhancing India’s maritime information architecture and strengthening collaborative efforts with partner navies.
In his past positions, RAdm Maddula played a key role in advancing international maritime partnerships, improving interoperability among forces, and contributing to various cooperative security initiatives within the Indo-Pacific region.
As ACNS (FCI), RAdm Maddula will steer the Indian Navy’s expanding global engagement efforts. His focus will include fostering strategic collaboration, enhancing foreign cooperation, promoting maritime intelligence sharing, and strengthening India’s naval diplomacy on a global scale.
RAdm Maddula is an alumnus of the Naval War College in Goa and is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Marine Corps Command & Staff College, credentials that highlight his robust academic foundation and strategic outlook.
His appointment coincides with a period when the Indian Navy is actively broadening its international presence. The navy has been engaged in high-end exercises, building deeper partnerships, and playing a crucial role in fostering a secure and stable maritime environment in an increasingly complex global landscape.
