Rifle and Ammunition Go Missing from Navys Residential Area in Mumbai Probe Ordered

A significant security breach has occurred within a residential area of the Indian Navy in Mumbai, raising serious concerns about protocol and safety. On the night of September 6, a rifle and ammunition went missing from a sentry post, prompting an immediate and extensive search operation as well as multiple investigations.

Official sources indicate that the incident began when a junior sailor, who was on sentry duty, was approached by an individual dressed in naval uniform. This impersonator claimed to have been assigned to relieve the sailor. Trusting the man’s appearance and words, the sailor relinquished his post. However, the situation took a grave turn when it was later discovered that both the impersonator and the military equipment had vanished without a trace.

In response to the alarming incident, an extensive search operation has been mobilized, with the Mumbai Police actively collaborating with naval authorities to locate the missing weapon and ammunition. The Indian Navy has also initiated a Board of Inquiry to thoroughly investigate the sequence of events leading to this loss. This inquiry will be critical in understanding how someone could access a secured naval area while disguised as personnel.

In addition to the internal investigation, other government agencies are involved in addressing the situation. The Navy has assured that it will provide full cooperation in all investigative efforts.

Authorities are taking the matter seriously and have not ruled out the possibility of foul play. Investigators are diligently working to identify the impersonator, focusing on how this individual managed to infiltrate the naval base undetected.

The incident underscores the need for rigorous compliance with security protocols within military establishments, especially in sensitive areas. As investigations continue, the Indian Navy is likely to review its security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
