Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy of the Indian Air Force (IAF) will lead the IAF’s 68-member marching contingent at the historic Bastille Day celebration in Paris, France on July 14, 2023. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the parade’s honorary guest. As part of the IAF’s ‘Nari Shakti’ campaign, Sindhu Reddy will lead the marching contingent.
A 269-member tri-services delegation of the Indian armed forces has already gone to Paris ahead of the Bastille Day parade. Along with French jets, three Indian Air Force Rafale fighter jets will take part in the flypast over the Champs Elysees. “A 269-member tri-services contingent of the Indian Armed Forces will march alongside their French counterparts,” the Army stated. According to officials, PM Modi’s journey to Paris would be historic because it will be the first Bastille Day visit by a foreign leader during Macron’s current mandate. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh previously attended the Bastille Day celebration in 2009.
Who is Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy?
Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy has been with the IAF for 9 years and is a helicopter pilot who flies the Mi-17. She has worked at air force bases in northern and southern India during her time with the IAF. She also lead the 144-member IAF contingent during the Republic Day parade in New Delhi in 2023.
“I always wanted to fly,” the Squadron Leader told about her IAF adventure. My father constantly encouraged me and made certain that I joined the NCC at college, which was a driving aspect.” Sindhu Reddy, in addition to leading the IAF Republic Day contingent in 2023, was also a member of the IAF marching contingent in 2018. Sqn Ldr Reddy has always loved parades, ever since she was an NCC cadet in Bengaluru. The adjutant chose her for the Republic Day parade because of her great performance in the parade, which is also a routine part of her unit’s daily programme.
