Thales and KNDS France have unveiled an innovative land-based variant of their RAPIDFire naval defense system, aimed specifically at safeguarding high-value assets in dynamic and rapidly changing combat environments. This newly designed system focuses on short-range defense capabilities, making it particularly adept at countering a variety of modern military threats such as drones, loitering munitions, low-end cruise missiles, and indirect fire assaults.
The operational range of the RAPIDFire system extends up to 4 kilometers (approximately 2.5 miles), providing effective point defense for critical installations and forces engaged in complex battle scenarios. To enhance its operational efficiency, the system is equipped with a 140-round ready rack that allows for sustained firing with fewer interruptions for reloads, ensuring continuous protection without the typical downtime associated with ammunition changes.
With its advanced technology and rapid response capabilities, this ground-based variant of RAPIDFire aims to bolster defense measures against evolving aerial threats, reinforcing the security of vital assets on the battlefield.
