AFCAT Entry admits candidates to Air Force Academy where AFA(Air Force Academy, Dundigal) where candidates train AFCAT Entry admits candidates to Air Force Academy, Dundigal where candidates train for a duration of 74 weeks in the case of Flying and Tech branches and 52 weeks for non-tech branches, before being commissioned as Flying Officer in the Indian Air-Force. The nature of commission is SSC for flying branches and both permanent and SSC for ground-duty branches.
There is a piece of good news for the defence aspirants, especially the Indian Air Force aspirants. Indian Air Force is going to open the AFCAT 1 2022 registration from 01 December 2021 and the registration will end on 30 December 2021. Another good news is, for the first time in history, AFCAT has a lot of vacancies, in fact, more than any other defence exam be it NDA, CDS, or INET.

For AFCAT 1 2021, IAF has notified around 317 vacancies.
- For Flying SSC Men and Women – 77
- For Ground Duty Tech PC Men – 26
- For Ground Duty Tech SSC Men and Women – 103
- For Ground Duty Non-Tech PC Men – 22
- For Ground Duty Non-Tech PC Men and Women – 89
- For NCC Special Entry Flying PC Men and SSC for Men and Women – 10% seats out of CDSE vacancies for PC and 10% seats out of AFCAT vacancies for SSC
