In anticipation of the upcoming Passing Out Parade (POP) at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), the Dehradun Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic diversion plan scheduled from December 6 to December 13. The vicinity surrounding the IMA campus has been designated a Zero Zone, which enforces strict restrictions on vehicular movement during specified hours.
Officials have outlined that the traffic diversions will be active on the following dates and times:
- December 6: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
- December 9: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM
- December 11: 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM
- December 12: 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM
- December 13: 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM
During these timeframes, no traffic will be allowed toward the IMA as the area will be entirely under Zero Zone restrictions.
The traffic plan includes specific routes for vehicles:
- Vehicles traveling from Ballupur to Premnagar will be directed via Rangharwala Tiraaha, Mithi Beri, and then to Premnagar.
- For those coming from Premnagar towards the city, the route will be through Premnagar Chowk, Daru Chowk, Mithi Beri, Shimla Bypass, Niranjanpur Mandi, and subsequently into the city.
In special circumstances, traffic from Premnagar may be permitted to traverse the IMA campus via the MT Section Gate toward Rangharwala.
Heavy vehicles originating from Selakui and Bhaauwawala will be rerouted from Dhulkot Tiraaha to Singhniwala, Nayagaon, and then into the city. Heavy vehicles traveling from Dehradun to Vikasnagar will also be diverted, using the Shimla Bypass toward Vikasnagar and Dharmawala.
The Passing Out Parade, set for December 13, is a prestigious event that will commemorate the commissioning of officer cadets from India as well as from friendly foreign nations. Leading up to this significant day, a series of ceremonial events are expected to take place within the academy.
To ensure smooth travel, the administration strongly advises commuters to adhere to the traffic guidelines, explore alternative routes, and plan their journeys in advance to mitigate potential inconveniences.
