Turkey has made significant strides in its drone warfare capabilities with the introduction of an innovative AI-powered kamikaze drone. This new unmanned aerial vehicle, named K2, marks a pivotal development in the country’s military technology, enabling advanced operations through coordinated formations.
The K2 recently completed a successful series of flight tests over the Gulf of Saros, showcasing its ability to operate in swarm-style configurations alongside four additional units. During these tests, the drones demonstrated remarkable versatility, flying in various formations, including line, V-shaped, and right echelon. The drones utilized advanced onboard sensors and cutting-edge autonomy software to maintain precise positioning, allowing for synchronized maneuvers—capabilities that could greatly enhance their effectiveness in combat scenarios.
This latest advancement positions Turkey at the forefront of drone technology, particularly in the realm of loitering munitions, which are designed to remain airborne for extended periods before striking targets.
