A significant milestone in military cooperation has been marked with the arrival of a contingent from the United Kingdom Army in India for Exercise Ajeya Warrior 2025. On November 15, 2025, a total of 120 personnel from the 2 Royal Gurkha Rifles landed at Air Force Station, Palam. Following their arrival, they proceeded to the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, where the forthcoming bilateral exercise will take place.
The soldiers were greeted with a traditional welcome ceremony, hosted by a ceremonial detail from the Indian Army’s SIKH Regiment. This reception not only showcased the hospitality of the Indian forces but also symbolized the mutual esteem, camaraderie, and shared martial values that characterize the longstanding defense relationship between India and the UK.
Scheduled to commence on November 17, 2025, Exercise Ajeya Warrior will involve both nations’ troops engaging in joint training sessions, tactical drills, and field exercises. The focus of the exercise will be on exchanging operational experiences, enhancing interoperability, refining sub-unit level coordination, and improving combined operational capabilities. Particularly emphasized will be the strategies for counter-insurgency operations and high-intensity combat environments.
This edition of Exercise Ajeya Warrior demonstrates the continued commitment to deepening military ties between India and the United Kingdom. The exercise aims to foster professional excellence, cultivate mutual trust, and enhance battlefield synergy between the respective armed forces, reflecting a robust partnership aimed at addressing contemporary global security challenges.
