The United States has reportedly submitted a comprehensive 15-point plan to Iran aimed at ending the ongoing conflict. This proposal, which includes stringent restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, also addresses the critical issue of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the global oil supply flows.

According to a report from The New York Times, which cited two anonymous officials familiar with the situation, the plan was delivered to Iran through Pakistan, a nation that has offered its services as a mediator in these discussions.

Israeli media outlet Channel 12 further revealed that the United States and Iran may agree to a month-long ceasefire during which negotiations could take place based on this proposal. Core elements of the plan call for an immediate cessation of uranium enrichment activities in Iran and the transfer of any enriched uranium, which both the U.S. and Israel believe poses a threat as it could potentially be weaponized.

In addition to the nuclear stipulations, the proposal could facilitate unimpeded access through the Strait of Hormuz. This would come after Iran’s previous retaliatory actions, which had included a partial blockade of the strait, significantly driving up global energy prices.

In exchange for these measures, the report indicates that Iran could expect an end to all economic sanctions currently imposed on it. Furthermore, the proposal appears to offer assistance for Iran’s civil nuclear energy program, particularly at the Bushehr facility, which Tehran claims was recently targeted by Israeli military actions.

While the White House and State Department have not commented on the reports, President Trump expressed optimism regarding diplomatic efforts with Iran, indicating a potential shift in strategy. This dialogue comes on the heels of a campaign that included the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, alongside actions taken by Israel.

Notably, the proposed plan does not seem to advocate for regime change in Iran, a significant point given the recent brutal crackdown on domestic protests within the country, which resulted in widespread casualties.
