Most candidates focus on:
- What to say
- How to cross
- How to lead
Very few ask:
“What is GTO actually writing about me?”
During every task, the GTO is not casually watching.
He is mentally noting patterns like:
- Who initiates?
- Who listens?
- Who panics?
- Who adapts?
- Who dominates?
- Who fades?
Today, I’ll show you a sample observation sheet format — and decode what goes into it.
First Truth: GTO Doesn’t Write Long Essays
He writes short behavioural markers like:
- Initiates
- Dominates
- Impulsive
- Cooperative
- Stable
- Rigid
- Balanced
- Hesitant
- Practical
- Over-talkative
Small words.
Big impact.

What Causes Conference Out in Observation Sheet?
Usually not one big negative.
It looks like this:
Initiative – Average
Cooperation – Moderate
Leadership – Occasional
Emotional Stability – Slightly reactive
Effective Intelligence – Adequate
Overall remark:
“Borderline. Needs maturity.”
That’s Conference Out.
What a Strong Sheet Looks Like
Initiative – Timely & balanced
Cooperation – Inclusive
Effective Intelligence – Practical
Leadership – Situational
Emotional Stability – Stable
Expression – Clear
Overall remark:
“Balanced. Officer-like.”
That’s Recommended zone.
The Biggest Mistake Candidates Make
They try to impress.
But GTO is writing patterns, not performances.
If you:
- dominate once → noted
- stay silent once → noted
- lose temper once → noted
Consistency across tasks builds your sheet.
What You Should Focus On
Instead of asking:
“How do I cross obstacle?”
Ask:
“What behaviour is visible while I cross?”
Because GTO is observing:
- Decision style
- Responsibility
- Balance
- Emotional control
- Group orientation
Not your physical ability alone.
Final Message
In GTO, nothing disappears.
Every:
- interruption
- adjustment
- failure reaction
- inclusion gesture
Adds a line in your invisible observation sheet.
The goal is not to act perfect.
The goal is to act balanced, responsible, and aware.
That’s what gets written positively.
