The Indian Military Academy (IMA) recently completed the Yodha Rakshak Combat Casualty Care training, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the lifesaving skills of future military leaders. This specialized training was facilitated by a distinguished team of instructors from the Officers Training College at the AMC Centre & College.
In total, 453 officer cadets participated in the comprehensive training program, which integrated rigorous classroom lectures with substantial hands-on practice. The curriculum was designed to prepare the cadets for high-stress operational scenarios, focusing on crucial trauma management techniques. Key topics included haemorrhage control, airway management, rapid evacuation methods, and essential medical interventions needed during the critical golden hour following battlefield injuries.
Alongside training the cadets, the Army Medical Corps (AMC) instructor team also implemented an intensive Train-the-Trainers program for the medical personnel at Military Hospital Dehradun and the Field Hospital. This initiative is aimed at establishing a self-sustaining network of proficient trainers who can continuously elevate the level of combat medical preparedness within the military structure.
The successful execution of the Yodha Rakshak module underscores the Indian Army’s dedication to enhancing the competencies involved in combat casualty care. By equipping future officers and medical staff with vital knowledge and skills, the Army is ensuring they can effectively save lives in the most demanding operational environments.
