A YouTuber from Suryapet, Telangana, named Bayya Sunny Yadav was apprehended by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on May 29 at Chennai airport. His arrest stems from his alleged travel to Pakistan without the necessary clearance, raising alarms regarding possible threats to national security.
Yadav embarked on a solo motorcycle journey to Pakistan approximately two months ago, chronicling his adventure on his YouTube channel. His content included videos shot near sensitive border regions, prompting intelligence agencies to take notice, especially amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
The NIA is currently investigating whether Yadav participated in any activities of concern or disclosed sensitive information during his time in Pakistan. In connection with the investigation, the agency has seized his digital devices to conduct a forensic examination intended to uncover the intent behind his travel.
In addition to this ongoing inquiry, authorities are looking into Yadav’s previous involvement in a separate matter where he is accused of endorsing illegal online betting applications on his social media. Multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) have been lodged against him in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. A specific case was opened on March 5, 2025, at the Nuthankal Police Station in Suryapet, leading to the issuance of a lookout circular aimed at locating him during travels abroad.
Yadav’s arrest is considered part of a broader initiative by Indian security agencies targeting individuals suspected of participating in cross-border espionage or any actions that could endanger national security. Ongoing investigations will endeavor to uncover any additional connections or violations that may have arisen as a result of Yadav’s visit to Pakistan.
