International Homeopathy Day

  • The World Homoeopathy Day is observed every year on April 10 to commemorate the Birthday of Dr Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy.
  • Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann was a German physician, who was a great scholar, linguist and acclaimed scientist.
  • Theme 2022: People’s Choice For Wellness
  • Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday inaugurated a two-day scientific convention on ‘Homoeopathy: People’s Choice for Wellness’ in New Delhi.
  • The three apex bodies under the Ministry of Ayush namely, the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, the National Commission for Homoeopathy and the National Institute of Homoeopathy are jointly organising this convention on the World Homoeopathy Day which is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of Homoeopathy, Dr Christian Fredrich Samuel Hahnemann.

National Conference On Cooperation Policy

  • A two-day National Conference on Cooperation Policy is being organized in New Delhi on the 12th and 13th of April. The conference will be inaugurated by the Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
  • The Union Ministry of Cooperation said, six important themes covering policy framework, reforms for strengthening governance, making cooperatives vibrant economic entities, promoting social cooperatives, and the role of cooperatives in social security will be discussed during the conference. The Ministry said these efforts will culminate in the formulation of a new robust National Cooperation Policy. It will give impetus to strengthen the cooperative-based economic model in the country to realize the vision and mantra of Sahkar Se Samaridhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • Created in July 2021, the Ministry of Cooperation has been working on the development of the cooperative sector for the formulation of new schemes and a new Cooperation Policy.

World Doubles Squash Championships

  • In the World Doubles Squash Championships, India’s Dipika Pallikal teaming up with Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinappa has won mixed doubles and women’s doubles titles at Glasgow yesterday.
  • Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal, seeded second, defeated the fourth-seeded English pair Adrian Waller and Alison Waters 11-6, 11-8 in the final to claim the mixed doubles title, becoming India’s first-ever World Doubles squash champions.
  • Later, Pallikal paired up with Joshna Chinappa to claim the women’s doubles title. With this win, Dipika doubled India’s and her own world championships, medal count. Third-seeds Indians oust England’s Sarah-Jane Perry and Alison Waters, the second seeds, 11-9, 4-11, 11-8 in a hard-fought final.

Prime Minister Imran Khan Ousted From Power

  • In Pakistan, Imran Khan has been ousted as the country’s Prime Minister after losing a no-confidence vote. Opposition parties were able to secure 174 votes in the 342-member National Assembly in support of the no-confidence motion.
  • The vote was held at midnight last night after Opposition parties brought a motion against Khan, which was upheld by the Supreme Court.
  • Minutes before the vote began, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser along with Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri resigned.
  • During the vote, members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were not present.
  • Imran Khan has become the first sitting Prime Minister in the history of Pakistan to be removed from office through a no-trust vote.
