Many aspirants do want to know the job profile they will have in the Army, what is the day to day task they have to do after joining the Indian Army. Corps of Army Air Defence (AAD)

  • The AAD is responsible for the protection of Indian air space from enemy aircraft and missiles, especially below 5,000 feet.
  • Active: 1939-present day
  • Motto: आकाशे शत्रुन् जहि (Kill the enemy in the sky)

Corps of Signals – Corps of Engineers

  • Indian Army Corps of Signals is a corps and an arm of the Indian Army, which handles its military communications.
  • It was formed on 15 February 1911
  • Motto: “Teevra Chaukas“  Swift and Alert

Army Aviation Corps

  • The Army Aviation Corps is a component of the Indian Army which was formed on 1 November 1986.
  • The corps is headed by a director-general (with the rank of lieutenant general) Headquarters: New Delhi.

Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME)

  • The Corps has varying responsibilities related to the design, development, trial, inspection, and refit of weapon systems and equipment.
    • They also provide technical advice to units and conduct recovery operations in peace and war.
    • Motto: Karm Hi Dharma

Army Service Corps (ASC)

  • ASC handles its logistic support function.
    • It is the oldest and the largest administrative service in the Indian Army.
    • Motto: Seva Asmākam Dharma (Service is our duty)
    • Active: 1760–Present

Army Ordnance Corps (AOC)

  • Responsible for providing material and logistical support to the Indian Army during war and peace.
    • Active: April 8, 1947

Intelligence Corps

  • The Directorate of Military Intelligence (MI) is the intelligence arm of the Indian Army. Its job is to look for moles and corruption within the army and gather intelligence and counterintelligence.
  • Active: 1941 – present

Judge and Advocate General (JAG)

  • It deals with military-related disciplinary cases and litigation and assists in providing legal assistance to the army in human rights matters and the rule of law among other things.

Military Nursing Service (MNS)

  • The Indian Military Nursing Services is a part of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) of the Indian Army, first formed under British rule in 1888.
    •  The aim of the Military Nursing Service is to provide medical care to the hospitalized soldiers and their dependents in peace and field locations.
