Country’s First Private LNG Plant inaugurated in Nagpur

  • Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the country’s First Private LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) plant in Nagpur on Sunday.
  • LNG is a clean and cost-effective fuel which can decrease the logistics cost.
  • It has also potential of creating ample job opportunities.
  • LNG is the fuel of the future and will revolutionize the transport sector.
  • The Country’s first LNG facility plant has been set up by Baidyanath Ayurvedic Group on Kamptee Road near Nagpur Jabalpur Highway.
  • Mr. Gadkari also informed that the Central Government is promoting Ethanol, Electric, CNG, LNG gas as an alternative to conventional fuels.

KVIC Secures Khadi Trademark Registrations Abroad

  • In a major achievement towards protecting the identity of brand “Khadi” globally – KVIC recently secured trademark registrations in – Bhutan, UAE, and Mexico.
  • Mahatma Gandhi had presented “Khadi” as a symbol of nationalism, equality and self-reliance, non-violence. It carried the message of Swadeshi and Swaraj to the people of India.
  • KVIC’s sustained efforts made in the last 5 years have led to the protection of the brand “Khadi” in these nine countries. KVIC’s trademark applications are pending in 40 countries across the world which include the USA, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Japan, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, among others.

Nominate Inspiring People for Peoples’ Padma

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has asked the public to nominate for Peoples’ Padma those who are doing exceptional work at the grassroots but not much known. Nominations are open till 15th September.
  • The Padma Awards are announced annually on the Republic Day (26th January).
  • Conferred on the recommendations made by the Padma Awards Committee, which is constituted by the Prime Minister every year they are presented by the President of India usually in the month of March/April every year.
  • The Awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service).
  • Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award exceptional service/performance of the highest order in any field of human endeavor.

CPWD to Celebrates 167th Year Of its Establishment

  • Central Public Works Department (CPWD) under Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), will celebrate 167th year of its glorious service to the nation on July 12, 2021.
  • CPWD came into existence in July 1854 as a central agency for execution of public works. It has now grown into a comprehensive construction management department, which provides services from project conception to completion, and maintenance management.
  • CPWD Medals shall also be conferred to the best performing officers of the department and technical presentations shall be made by the officers of CPWD and other experts.

National Fish Farmers Day Celebrated

  • The National Fisheries Development Board celebrated the National Fish Farmers Day on 10th July.
  • It is Celebrated to commemorate Professor Dr. Hiralal Chaudhury and his colleague Dr. Alikunhi for their contribution in achieving the successful induced breeding of major carps on 10th July,1957 in Odisha for the first time in the country.
  • This pioneering work of induced breeding over the years has transformed the growth of aquaculture sector from traditional to intensive aquaculture practices and led to success of modern aquaculture industry. The day was also celebrated as NFDB Foundation Day i.e., on 10th July 2006.

Third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting Held

  • Union Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman participated virtually in the Third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting under the Italian Presidency.
  • The two-day meeting held on July 9th and 10th, 2021 saw discussions on a wide range of issues including global economic risks and health challenges, policies for recovery from the CoVID-19 pandemic, international taxation, sustainable finance, and financial sector issues.
  • The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors reaffirmed their resolve to use all available policy tools for as long as required to address the adverse consequences of COVID-19.
  • The G20 is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union. It works to address major issues related to the global economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development.

‘SAMVEDAN 2021 – Sensing Solutions for Bharat’

  • National hackathon organized by IIT Madras & Sony India encourages citizens to produce solutions using IoT Sensor Board.
  • The Internet of things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects- a.k.a. “things “-that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the Internet.
  • Well-known examples of IoT devices include smart speakers like Amazon Alexa or Google Home, smartwatches like the Apple Watch, internet-connected baby monitors, video doorbells, and even toys.
  • Citizens across the country can now participate in solving India-specific problems of societal interest using IoT Sensor Board through a National hackathon called ‘SAMVEDAN 2021 – Sensing Solutions for Bharat’.
  • Prizes worth 3 Lakhs will be awarded to the best teams. Apart from the prize money, the winners will be eligible for an entrepreneurial support scheme by IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation.
